How to make Easy Macerated Strawberries with Sugar
The most important ingredient in this recipe is of course, the strawberries. Be sure to pick a pound of the freshest possible strawberries.
Ingredients you’ll need to make this recipe
- 1 lb Fresh Strawberries – washed, patted dry, trimmed and sliced into 1/4″ slices
- 2 tbsp Granulated Sugar
- Squeeze of Lemon Juice – from 1/4 of a medium lemon (this need not be exact)
- Pinch of Salt – to bring out the flavor
The first thing you’ll need to do is rinse them really well (as you should be doing with all of your fresh produce). I like to dry them with paper towels before proceeding.
Next, remove the leafy tops and trim away any remaining stem. From there, halve the strawberry and cut into wide slices as shown.
Add sugar, lemon juice and a pinch of salt just to amplify the flavor even more. Salt brings out the best in everything, even desserts!
Toss it really well until you can’t see any granular sugar.
Then, place it into a covered container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, but even longer if you can. It just becomes more syrupy as it sets.
